Making the most of Olden Nordfjord

Arriving at the port
Olden Cruise Port is 1km from the village centre, where a supermarket, other shops and amenities can be found. The port itself has several facilities, including visitor information, a small café and numerous souvenir outlets. Outdoor pursuits define this call: hire bicycles, ride a trolley train around town, take a fast and exhilarating Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) trip onto the fjord for the views, or follow the many hiking trails to vantage points with broad, far-reaching outlooks.
Ships will sometimes bring passengers ashore using their tenders.
The still Nordfjord waters and snow-covered mountains, together with the immense glacier in Jostedalsbreen National Park, offer nature in its truest form.
Getting around
Several quayside kiosks sell excursions, often at prices much lower than those available on board.
After leaving the ship, visitors will see sellers offering different excursions. One is a 70-minute land-train journey through Olden with ‘Olden Sightseeing’, costing 300 KR.
Board the open-top bus for a scenic journey through Olden's attractive landscapes. The Open Top Glacier Sightseeing tour departs the cruise terminal for a glacier viewpoint 12 kilometres outside the village. At the viewpoint, A 10-minute photo stop allows time for the perfect picture. The price is 300 KR.
Nearby places
Experience the frozen sweep of the million-year-old Briksdal Glacier, the best-known of Jostedal Glacier's numerous icy arms. Explore beautiful Lodalen Valley by boat across glassy, ice-green Lovatn Lake and into wild Kjenndalen, where Kjenndal Glacier forms one of Jostedal Glacier's largest arms. In attractive surroundings beside Lake Stryn, the Jostedalsbreen National Park visitor centre provides in-depth glacier information through a film and varied exhibitions. Norway's finest summer skiing centre stands on the glacier plateau at Mt. Strynefjellet.
A new Norwegian attraction is now open. Only 6 kilometres from the Port of Olden, Loen Skylift carries visitors from the fjord to the summit of Mt. Hoven, 1011 metres high, in only five minutes. One of the world's steepest cable cars, it gives an unforgettable, breathtaking view across the Norwegian fjord landscape.
