Making the most of Narsaq
Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.
Arriving at the port
The Pier at Atlantic Quay is 60 m long and 8 m deep.
Larger ships have safe anchorage in Narsaq Bay.
Sheltered between two fjords, Narsaq has a mild subarctic climate suited to farming sheep and growing crops. Its green valley contrasts dramatically with icebergs created by nearby glaciers. Narsaq is an ideal setting for iceberg cruises because a very active glacier in Bredefjord sends many icebergs seaward past the town. Colourful houses enhance this particularly attractive setting, and an excellent museum displays kayaks, traditional dress and local history.

Money
Credit cards work at numerous restaurants, shops and hotels, but bringing a modest sum in Danish kroner to Greenland is advised because certain ATMs may not operate over the weekend.
