The Port of Miami, also called Cruise Capital of the World. Home to 12 cruise lines and the largest year-round cruise fleet in the world, the port accommodates more than 4 million passengers a year. 7 air-conditioned terminals are decorated with dramatic public art. There’s duty-free shopping and limousine service. You can get taxis at all the terminals, and car-rental agencies are present.

Taxicabs are available at all airport terminals. The flat rate fare between Miami International Airport and the Cruise Port of Miami is $27.00. SuperShuttle vans also will bring you to the port. Rates are about $16 per person roundtrip for the first rider and only $10 for each additional rider.. An Uber/Lyft fare from the Miami airport to the Port of Miami would run approximately $16.

Bayside Marketplace is within walking distance from the terminal. Everything else is too far to walk to.

The distance from PortMiami to downtown Miami is very short, typically around 1 to 2 miles (1.6 to 3.2 kilometers), depending on which terminal you depart from. It's a quick drive or taxi ride.

Use a taxi to go to places you want to visit or rent a car, however this is not the most pleasant city to drive in. Cuban temperament and retirees from the north do not blend well.

Bal Harbour Shops is an upscale open-air shopping mall in Bal Harbour, a wealthy suburb of Miami known internationally for its collection of luxury retail.

Lincoln Road Mall is a pedestrian-only promenade and the epicenter of what’s happening in South Beach. Located between West Avenue and Washington Avenue,l offers unique shopping, sidewalk cafes, bars, galleries, and fine dining. Lincoln Road is also the best people-watching spot on South Beach.

Major credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are widely used and accepted, even for transactions worth only a few dollars. In fact, in some cases, it may be the only way to make a transaction. Note to overseas visitors: Prices of goods and services always seem lower than they really are, as taxes and gratuities are seldom included.

Most states have a sales tax, ranging from 2.9% to nearly 10% of the retail price; 4-6% is typical. Sales tax is almost never included in posted prices (except for gasoline, and in most states, alcoholic beverages consumed on-premises), but instead will be calculated and added to the total when you pay.

Tipping in America is widely used and expected. While Americans themselves often debate correct levels and exactly who deserves to be tipped, generally accepted standard rates are:

• Food delivery (pizza, etc.): $2-5, possibly more for very large orders

The U.S. has no official language at the federal level, but English is by far the standard for everyday use. Several states have declared their official state language as English. Spanish is also official in the state of New Mexico, where it is widely spoken; French is official in Louisiana and the Hawaiian language is official in Hawaii, but neither approaches the use of English and are official for primarily historical reasons.
