Arriving at the port
On Annette Island, roughly 8 nautical miles (about 25 km) south of Ketchikan, Metlakatla offers a distinctive, culturally rich Alaskan call. It is the United States' only Indigenous Tsimshian community and Alaska's sole Indian reservation, making it an especially authentic setting for visitors.
Visiting vessels usually berth at Port of Metlakatla City Dock in Port Chester Bay. The dock lies about 610 meters (2,000 feet) southeast of Village Point; its 122 meters (400 feet) of berthing space and 10.6 meters (35 feet) depth alongside are suited to smaller cruise ships.
