This atoll hosted the first pearl farm, paving the way for the other Tuamotu islands. Pearl farming has since spread and been perfected, producing true jewels worthy of adorning the most beautiful queen.
This atoll’s attractions include a deep navigable pass beside the special Turipaoa village, basking in a sumptuous fairy-tale-coloured lagoon, with exceptionally rich flora and fauna and a world-renowned seabed for divers.
Divers know Manihi waters for their exceptional density of fish, from the pass to the reef wall and "the circus" within the lagoon. Cavally and napoleons pass perch, cod, loach and meru, while majestic manta rays dodge eagle rays.
Away from diving, visit one of the many pearl farms or seek out ancient marae sites, still visible at the atoll’s northern and southern ends.
