Arriving at the port

Ships anchor offshore and tender guests to the beach. Visits by luxury yachts helped make the destination well known.

Ko Kut, also called Koh Kood, lies in Trat Province in eastern Thailand. This relatively flat island has many attractive clear-water beaches, including Ta Pho Beach, Khlong Chao Beach, Thakian Beach and Phrao Beach. Its wild interior contains numerous coconut and rubber-tree plantations across the plains. Around 300 people live in the north-eastern fishing village of Ao Salat, the island's largest settlement.

The Champagne and Caviar service in the surf has become legendary, and beach facilities are first class. Many cruise passengers therefore spend their whole visit beside the sea.

02

Nearby places

Ao Salat is an interesting stilt village built over the water and rewards the fairly long road journey. Another popular activity is the walk to Nam Tok Khlong Chao waterfall.

03

Money

Local money is the Thai Baht, subdivided into 100 satang, with ATMs readily available.

04

Staying connected

Thai is the national language. English is understood widely, and several Chinese dialects are also used.
