Central Pacific nation Kiribati comprises 33 low-lying coral islands and atolls. It is the world's largest atoll state and extends for approximately 2,000 miles across the equator. Christmas Island, also called Kiritimati Island, and Fanning Island, or Tabuaeran Island, belong to Kiribati's Line Islands Group and have become popular new cruise ship destinations.
