Arriving at the port
The dedicated bonded cruise berth takes ships of up to 220m length and a maximum 10m draft. Passengers step ashore directly opposite the town’s main street.
A long shopping strip begins at the dock, with inexpensive-looking clothing, bars, beauty-product shops and electronics, though nothing particularly remarkable.
Itajaí offers many attractive beaches: Molhes, Atalaia, Jeremias, Cabeçudas—the cleanest—Morcego, Praia Brava and Solidão. Reach them by local bus or taxi.
The city also has extensive rural surroundings, beautiful natural scenery and a strong Portuguese and German immigrant heritage.

The local currency is the Brazilian Real.

Most stores and businesses operate from 9am to 6pm, commonly taking a long lunch break from about noon to 2pm.
