Arriving at the port
This is a tender port. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a very small yet cheerful town, Vila do Abraao, where you'll find a few restaurants serving up the catch of the day, as well as some great beachside bars and other amenities.
Vila do Abraao, other than this little village, Ilha Grande is totally deserted and completely car free, which means the only way to access the beaches is by walking through the jungle or by taking a boat round the coast.
Be sure to visit Lopez Mendes beach, which is not only among the most beautiful in the world, but also offers some of the best surf on the planet.
Getting around
Tour companies offer everything from kayaking to scuba diving, so if you're looking for adventure then you will be spoilt for choice.
