Making the most of Harvest Cay

Arriving at the port
NCL’s private island is under development.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s new private-island port in Belize, Harvest Caye, will have its own cruise ship port, making it the Central American country’s only port where passengers walk ashore rather than tender. The port will also feature a seven-acre sand beach, 15,000-square-foot pool, zip lining, suspension bridges, free fall jumps and five dining and beverage venues.
Harvest Caye opened in 2016 for Norwegian Cruise Line passengers on the line’s Western Caribbean itineraries.
Cruise staff will not serve you; locals staff the island instead.
A nature center has been built with boa constrictors, toucans and scarlet macaws, together with an enclosed butterfly garden.
Getting around
Guests seeking adventure have plenty to do on Harvest Caye. The 130 foot Flighthouse is the hub for aerial activities, including zip lining, suspension bridges, free fall jumps, a tandem “superman” style zip line and views of the mainland’s verdant hills. The course has more than 3,000 feet of zip line, taking guests above the island and sea with stops at three different platforms. The Flighthouse also includes a demanding but enjoyable ropes course…
For a gentler option, use the shallow lagoon for watersports such as kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing.
Food and shopping
LandShark Bar & Grill is a two-story restaurant overlooking a very large pool, with indoor air-conditioned and open-air seating, plus a menu that includes delicious burgers. Unlike other private islands, meals here must be paid for.
