Making the most of Gold harbor

Use these notes to shape a realistic day ashore, then confirm any time-sensitive information for the date of your call.

01

Arriving at the port

Passengers are tendered ashore because cruise ships cannot dock here.

Gold Harbor is South Georgia Island's southernmost point. Along its high-cliffed, deeply fjorded coast lies a King penguin stronghold. Adelie, Gentoo, Chinstrap, Magellanic, Macaroni and Rockhopper penguins also live on the island, alongside giant petrels, elegant snow petrels and plentiful South Georgia pipits.

02

Money

Pound sterling is the islands' official currency, using the same notes and coins as the United Kingdom.
