01

Arriving at the port

Eastport is a Down East Maine town on Moose Island, at the meeting point of Cobscook and Passamaquoddy Bays. Route 190 reaches the mainland by way of a causeway.

Eastport Breakwater Terminal is near downtown Eastport, roughly a 5-minute walk from the town centre.

The Tides Institute & Museum of Art sits on the U.S./Canada border between New England and the Atlantic Provinces, on traditional and continuing Passsamaquoddy homelands. It brings regional and international interests, resources and initiatives together to create critical mass, synergy and connectedness, supporting the region's cultural and economic well being and wider links.

As the easternmost city in the United States, it combines history, culture and natural beauty in a distinctive setting.

02

Getting around

At Quoddy Head State Park, the iconic Quoddy Head Lighthouse marks the easternmost point of the contiguous United States. Follow trails such as the Coastal Trail for dramatic rugged-coast views, and look for whales, seals and bald eagles.

Eastport is well placed for whale watching. A local excursion may reveal humpback whales, minke whales and finback whales in their natural habitat; late spring through early fall is the best period.

03

Food and shopping

Eastport is known for seafood, especially lobster and clams. Sample these fresh dishes at local restaurants or seafood shacks.

04

Money

Eastport uses the United States dollar (symbol;$), the official U.S. currency; ATMs are everywhere.
