Arriving at the port
The dock is a short walk to the center of town. Ships over 240 meters will anchored in the river.
Dundee is in North East Scotland and is Scotland's 4th largest city. The city is just over 800 years old. Dundee is known as Scotland’s sunniest city.
It is situated beside Scotland's longest river, the River Tay, and is home to RRS Discovery - the ship built in 1901 for Captain Scott who travelled to the Antarctic. Dundee has an excellent offering of attractions including the McManus Art Gallery & Museum, Science Center, Frigate Unicorn and Transport Museum.
A £1 billion master plan to regenerate and to reconnect the Waterfront to the city center which started in 2001 is expected to be completed within a 30-year period, with the spectacular Dundee Victoria & Albert Museum opened in 2018 at a cost of £80 million, a stunning purpose-built riverside museum, which will be an international centre of design for Scotland
Getting around
It's a great place to explore on foot, a highlight being a walk up to Dundee Law, an extinct volcano with a peak of 572 ft offering tremendous views of the city and its surrounds.

Nearby places
The seaside suburb of Broughty Ferry has a good selection of pubs and restaurants, which quickly fill up on summer nights. The striking Broughty Castle & Museum, overlooking the sea, is also well worth a visit.
Money
The currency throughout the UK is the pound (£). You may also hear the slang term quid for pounds. Scottish bank notes are frowned upon in other parts of the UK, so change the notes before leaving Scotland.
Cash machines (ATM) or less formally 'holes in the wall' are very widely available and usually dispense £10 and £20 notes.
Visa, Mastercard and Maestro, are accepted by most shops and restaurants.

English is spoken throughout the country, but sometimes with heavy accents!
Most cafe's and restaurants offer free WiFi.
