Making the most of Datca

Arriving at the port
On the Datça Peninsula in southwest Turkey, where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean, Datça is a scenic cruising destination rather than a major terminal such as Kusadasi or Istanbul. Large ocean cruise ships therefore do not usually make regular scheduled calls.
Getting around
At the peninsula’s western tip, Knidos (Knidos Antik Kenti) is the site of an ancient city. It began as a small trading port in 1100 BC, became the area’s chief town around 330 BC and was inhabited until 500 AD. It spread across Triopion and the nearby mainland, later joined by a tombola spit developed into a causeway.
Money
The Turkish Lira is Turkey’s currency. Euros and US dollars are accepted by many shops and restaurants in coastal resorts and large cities, but take some Turkish Lira if travelling elsewhere in the country.
