The small town of Coles Bay is located on the sheltered western coast of the Freycinet Peninsula, on the east coast of Tasmania, 70 miles (115km) northeast of Hobart. It is dominated by the spectacular pink granite outcrops called the Hazards. Coles Bay gives access to sandy beaches, secluded coves, rocky cliffs and the excellent Freycinet National Park. The Park is noted for its coastal heaths, orchids, and other wildflowers and for its wildlife including black cockatoos, yellow wattlebirds, honey eaters and Bennetts wallabies.
