Arriving at the port
Chuuk (Truk) is an island group in the southwestern part of the Pacific Ocean. It comprises one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), along with Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. The main population center of Chuuk State is the Chuuk Lagoon, a large archipelago with mountainous islands surrounded by a string of islets on a barrier reef. The main island of Weno (formerly Moen) is the capital and commercial center of Chuuk.
Chuuk, with its vast, shallow, beautiful lagoon is a Mecca for wreck divers. A major shipwreck site from WWII, Truk Lagoon is unquestionably the world's best shipwreck diving destination. Other attractions include the State center at Weno, views of the lagoon from the Japanese lighthouse and the Blue Lagoon Resort.
