Arriving at the port
Chuuk, or Truk, is a Pacific island group in the southwest ocean and one of the Federated States of Micronesia's four states, alongside Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap. Chuuk Lagoon is its main population centre: a broad archipelago of mountainous islands encircled by barrier-reef islets. Weno, formerly Moen, is the state's capital and commercial centre.
The vast, shallow Chuuk lagoon is a destination for wreck divers. WWII shipwrecks make Truk Lagoon unquestionably the world's leading shipwreck-diving location. Other sights include the state centre at Weno, lagoon views from the Japanese lighthouse and Blue Lagoon Resort.
