Arriving at the port
Ships anchor offshore, with tenders landing passengers close to the town.
Known locally as Cidade do Agito, Cabo Frio stands 93 miles (150 km) northeast of Rio de Janeiro. The city has a population of 230.000 and draws visitors with soft white-sand beaches and extravagant entertainment. Its shores are excellent for diving, surfing and swimming.
Forte Beach is Cabo Frio’s best-known shore, where the Fortress of Saint Mathews was built in 1620 and offers free entry. The beach extends 7.5 kilometres through the heart of the rather unattractive town near numerous bars and restaurants. Continue to the far left end to visit the fort and enjoy a memorable panorama.

Only a limited number of cafés provide free Wi-Fi.
Opening Hours and
Most businesses and shops open from 9am to 6pm, with an extended lunch break from approximately noon to 2pm.
Many museums close on Monday.
