Making the most of Boca do Valeria

Arriving at the port
As cruise ships are not able to dock here you will be tendered ashore.
Be sure to bring you camera on the tender because you are on the spot where the waters of the Valeria River meet the Amazon. It is incredible how the two rivers remain separate for miles before finally blending together.
A remote little Indian community, set at the entrance of the Valeria river on a 400ft hill and overlooking the Amazon River. It is located between Parintins and Santarem. Calls allow you to explore the jungle in quest of monkeys, butterflies, and the colorful bird life, and to buy wooden carvings and gourd masks and see something of the, simple traditional lifestyle of the villagers.
Getting around
There are no facilities to operate any organized excursions. If conditions permit, the ship’s tenders may take you to one of the typical Caboclo (river dwellers) villages to get a glimpse of the natives’ traditional lifestyle. See monkeys and snakes and also look at a selection of local handicrafts.

Basic hours for most stores and businesses are from 9am to 6pm, with an extended lunch hour from around noon to 2pm.
